Virtual Lohri Celebration in Innocent Hearts

Jalandhar, January 13, 2022: The five schools of Innocent Hearts (Green Model Town, Loharan, Cantt.-Jandiala Road, Kapurthala Road and Nurpur) and Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated Online Lohri festival for enriching the traditional punjabi customs and for inculcating the values of togetherness, chivalry, purity and for spreading love and joy. School children dressed in traditional costumes virtually presented folk dance 'Bhangra' of Punjab.  In college, Virtual Cultural Programme started with singing ‘Tappe’ and online dance competition. By listening to the online legendary tales depicting the acts of bravery, the feelings of sacrifice, valour and patriotism were reinforced amongst the student-teachers. Online Collage-making competition was also organized on the theme of ‘Significance of Lohri for Punjabi farmers’ and ‘Punjabi cuisine and customs followed on this day’. Aashna Kaur and Navjeet Kaur achieved first prize in Collage-making competition. Sakshi Thakur bagged first position in folk dance competition. Vishali Arora grabbed first prize in folk song competition. Preeti achieved first position in Digital card making competition.
Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh highlighted the importance of celebrating Lohri. He said that the people worship the Sun god and the fire and thank them for the good harvest. We all should also burn the negative feelings and social evils inherent within us in the bonfire.
