The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Monday arrested a revenue Patwari, Chamkaur Lal,  posted in block Majri, SAS Nagar district and resident of 3B-1, Mohali for amassing wealth than his known sources of income.

          The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Monday arrested a revenue Patwari, Chamkaur Lal,  posted in block Majri, SAS Nagar district and resident of 3B-1, Mohali for amassing wealth than his known sources of income.

          Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the state VB said in this regard a case has been registered against the above said Patwari after investigation of a vigilance enquiry regarding the allegations of creating disproportionate assets by purchasing moveable and immovable properties through corruption.

          Giving details he further informed that during the investigation, he had incurred 76 percent expenditure than his known sources of income. In order to adjust his illgotten money collected through corruption, he had deposited heavy amounts in the bank accounts of his son and wife by cheques or direct transfers through different persons.

          It has came to light that the said accused had constructed a palatial house in phase 3B-1, Mohali by spending crores of rupees on it. Besides he owned costly vehicles.

          He informed that a case under prevention of corruption act against the accused Patwari has been registered at VB Police Station, flying squad, Punjab, SAS Nagar. He would be produced in the Mohali court tomorrow. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
