Vice-Chairperson, Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa, Visits New Khera Bet Village to Review Flood Impact

Ludhiana, September 9, 2025: Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa, Vice-Chairperson of the Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (PSCPCR), visited New Khera Bet village to review the impact of recent floods on children and their families. The visit focused on understanding how the Flood affected the physical and mental health of children, their education, and overall living conditions.
During her visit, Bawa met with affected families and children, speaking directly with them to understand their needs and challenges. She carefully checked the health and emotional well-being of children and discussed the difficulties faced by parents in providing a safe environment. She highlighted the urgent need for medical care, mental health support and uninterrupted educational opportunities to help children recover from the Flood impact.
Bawa assured that all necessary measures would be taken in coordination with local authorities to provide medical assistance, psychological counseling, and educational support. She also promised that the Commission will keep monitoring the situation and provide ongoing support to protect children from the effects of natural disasters.
Bawa was accompanied by Baljit Singh, Health Inspector, Community Health Centre, Koom kalan, Ludhiana and Harpreet, Social Activist, along with other members who joined efforts to strengthen relief measures and safeguard the welfare of children in flood-affected areas.
Aas Ehsaas, an NGO, in collaboration with Rani Prayatan Charitable Trust, distributed tarpaulins, health kits, sanitary napkins, slippers, and other relief materials to the affected families.
The Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights remains committed to helping vulnerable children in disaster-hit areas and will continue working with the local administration to provide relief, safety measures, and long-term support.
