Chandigarh, 26 August 2025: The Department of Microbial Biotechnology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised a vibrant celebration on World Photography Day on campus.
The event, designed to provide a creative platform for the students from different departments to showcase their perspectives on nature and its deep connection with human life through their lens, witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and staff.
Participants submitted their entries in three distinct categories – Landscapes and Scenery, Flora & Fauna, and Human and Nature. The diverse range of photographs reflected not only technical skill but also unique storytelling through the lens, offering the audience a glimpse into the beauty of nature from different angles.
The event was graced by the presence of two distinguished Chief Guests, Prof. Manish Sharma, Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies and Architect Inder Gulati, who interacted with the participants and praised the initiative. They expressed their appreciation for the creative efforts of the students and staff, noting that such events encourage critical observation, environmental awareness, and artistic engagement. The judges carefully evaluated each photograph and the thought behind it and selected the winners.
A prize distribution ceremony was held to recognise the most outstanding entries in each category. Winners were applauded for their talent, and certificates and awards were presented as a token of encouragement.
The Chairperson, Prof. Rohit Sharma, delivered an inspiring speech, congratulating the participants for their enthusiasm and creativity. In the address, the Chairperson emphasised the importance of art in education, and how photography serves as a bridge between scientific understanding and aesthetic expression.
