Chandigarh, June 10, 2026: Following its 5G launch in Chandigarh, Mohali, Kharar, Zirakpur and Golden Temple Amritsar, leading telecom operator Vi is now accelerating its expansion in Punjab to launch its 5G services in Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Patiala. It will further expand its 5G services to Amritsar by June 2026, strengthening its footprint across key cities in Punjab.

Vi customers in these four cities can enjoy high-definition streaming, gaming, video conferencing, faster downloads, and real-time cloud access with Vi 5G.

Commenting on the expansion, Rahul Joshi, Circle Business Head – Haryana, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, Vodafone Idea, said, “We are accelerating the expansion of Vi’s 5G network across Punjab, as we strengthen our footprint across key markets in the state. The launches in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala and Amritsar mark important steps in this journey. Our expansion is guided by a clear focus on prioritising high-demand locations spanning high data consumption centres as well as areas with significant footfall.”

With the inclusion of these key Punjab municipalities alongside Ambala, Karnal, Panipat, and Sonipat, the entire Grand Trunk Road corridor from Amritsar to Delhi can now experience Vi 5G coverage.

In parallel with its 5G rollout, Vi has been significantly strengthening its 4G network in Punjab to deliver wider coverage, faster data speeds and an improved overall customer experience. Between April 2025 and March 2026, Vi has deployed over 3413 new 4G sites across 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz spectrum bands in over 263 towns. These network initiatives have led to an 18 percent increase in 4G data usage by Vi customers in Punjab.
