VHP launches centenary year celebrations of Ashok Singhal
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Haryana, on Sunday launched the centenary year celebrations of its late leader Ashok Singhal with a state-level programme at Gurugram University. More than 1,700 workers and members of society, besides saints, social activists, lawyers and office-bearers, attended the event.

Gurugram, September 27, 2026: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Haryana, on Sunday launched the centenary year celebrations of its late leader Ashok Singhal with a state-level programme at Gurugram University. More than 1,700 workers and members of society, besides saints, social activists, lawyers and office-bearers, attended the event.
VHP central general secretary Bajrang Lal Bagda, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Acharya Dr Lokesh Muni addressed the gathering, while Gurugram University Vice-Chancellor Prof Sanjay Kaushik presided over the programme.
Bagda highlighted Singhal’s contribution to the VHP, organisational expansion, social harmony, protection of cows, promotion of the Vedas and the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He described the Vedas as the foundation of Hindu culture and stressed the importance of social equality and harmony.
CM Nayab Singh Saini recalled Singhal’s contribution to the nation, society and cultural awakening, describing him as a “great personality”. He called for centenary-year programmes focusing on social service, environmental protection, youth engagement and cultural awareness.
Acharya Lokesh Muni shared his experiences of working with Singhal and recalled his influence on social and organisational activities.
The event was attended by Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh, MLAs Mukesh Sharma, Tejpal Tanwar and Vimla Chaudhary, Gurugram Mayor Rajrani Malhotra and senior VHP office-bearers from across Haryana.
The VHP also organised an exhibition showcasing Singhal’s life, work and organisational journey. A ‘Join VHP’ counter also drew registrations. The organisation announced plans to hold programmes across all districts of Haryana throughout the centenary year.
