Veterans Discuss Coffee Table Book ‘The Lawrence School, Sanawar: Military Heritage (1847–2025)’

Chandigarh, April 14, 2026: Following its formal release at the Manekshaw Centre on by General Anil Chauhan, the coffee table book ‘The Lawrence School, Sanawar: Military Heritage (1847–2025)’, published by HarperCollins Publishers India, was presented to the Chandigarh–Tricity audience at a special event held at Mohali near Chandigarh. The event, which was supported by GB Realty, featured an engaging session with two of the book’s editors—Major General AJS Sandhu, VSM (Retd), and Major General (Dr) Kulpreet Singh—who shared insights into the conception, research, and significance of the publication.
Notably, ‘The Lawrence School, Sanawar: Military Heritage (1847–2025)’ is a 448-page coffee table volume capturing over 175 years of courage, leadership, and service of alumni of the prestigious Sanawar School. From the battlefields of 1962 and 1971 to global arenas of excellence, the book honours generations of Sanawarians who have served the nation with distinction. Edited by distinguished Old Sanawarians—Major General AJS Sandhu, Major General KVS Lalotra, Major General (Dr) Kulpreet Singh, and Sagat Shaunik—it presents a rich visual and historical narrative through rare archival photographs, making it a limited-edition collector’s tribute to the school’s enduring military legacy.
The event was attended by distinguished members of the armed forces and civil society, including Air Chief Marshal B. S. Dhanoa (Retd.), former Chief of the Air Force, Lt Gen Bhopinder Singh(Retd.), and Jatinder Bajwa, Vice President, GB Realty, along with a large gathering of senior veterans from the tricity region.
Adding an academic dimension to the event, heads of leading schools, along with their students, were also present. The Headmaster of The Lawrence School, Sanawar, Himmat Singh Dhillon, attended with faculty members and students, underscoring the institution’s enduring connection with its alumni.
Addressing the gathering, Dhillon spoke about the school’s rich heritage, core values, and vision for the future. The event was further enlivened by heartfelt reflections from the Head Girl and Head Boy.
This landmark publication stands as a tribute to The Lawrence School, Sanawar’s distinguished military heritage and its continued commitment to excellence in education and nation-building.
