TNAI & SNA Units of College of Nursing celebrates WHO Day in Medical OPD, CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana on Monday, the theme of WHO Day for the year 2014 is “Vector Borne Diseases.

Ludhiana, April 7, 2014: TNAI & SNA Units of College of Nursing celebrated World Health Organisation Day in Medical OPD, CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana on Monday. The theme of World Health Organisation Day for the year 2014 is “Vector Borne Diseases. The programme was started with invocation song and prayer. Dr Reena Jairus, Nursing  Superintendent welcomed the Chief Guest and the audience present.
The theme was highlighted by Balqis Victor, President, TNAI (Local Branch). Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest-Dr. Shavinder Singh, Professor and Head of the Community Medicine Department, emphasised on the theme “Vector Borne Diseases” caused by mosquito, Malaria, Dengue, Chicken-Guinea, Kala Azar and Filaria. He also focused to prevent stagnation of water, moist places should be covered with soil and change the water in air coolers every week.
Guest Speaker-Dr. Kanwal Masih, Medical Superintendent also emphasised to take responsibility by each one because negligence leads to disease. Dr. Paramita Sengupta, Nodal Officer of the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) informed that Malaria and Dengue have been labeled as notifiable diseases by the WHO and hence all fever cases should be promptly reported, tested and treated in time to reduce the burden of diseases.
Dr. Kim J. Mammen, Associate Director encouraged to do good works by health education. Students staged role play to convey the message on prevention of Vector Borne Diseases which was appreciated by patients and relatives present on this occasion. Posters were also displayed on the theme by TNAI members and Student Nurses for competition.
