VC Dr. H.K. Agarwal calls Alumni as the Department's True Assets; Pediatrics Legacy Conclave at PGIMS, Rohtak

Rohtak, April 27, 2026: MD/DCH alumni, faculty members, and distinguished guests from various parts of the country, participated in the 'Pediatrics Legacy Conclave'—organized by the Department of Pediatrics at Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences—to celebrate the department's rich 60-year legacy. Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.K. Agarwal inaugurated the event.
In his address, Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.K. Agarwal said that the Department of Pediatrics has demonstrated remarkable progress in patient care, teaching and training, and research. This 60-year journey is a testament to dedication, hard work, and team spirit. He emphasized that alumni serve as the main pillars of any department; their achievements and contributions continuously inspire future generations. The Vice-Chancellor further underscored that, in light of the New National Education Policy and the evolving medical landscape, the role of the Department of Pediatrics has become even more significant. He noted that the department must strive to reduce neonatal mortality rates, combat malnutrition, and remain prepared to address emerging diseases.
Earlier in the program, Dr. Kundan Mittal—Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Medical Superintendent—delivered the welcome address. He reiterated that the achievements and contributions of alumni serve as an inspiration for future generations. He also shed light on the department's future plans and initiatives.
Dr. Anjali Verma, a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, highlighted that the department has successfully completed 60 years of postgraduate training. She illuminated the department's illustrious journey, its key achievements, and its contributions to the field. She noted that, over these six decades, the department has established a national reputation in the areas of neonatal care, nutrition, immunization, and the management of rare diseases.
Director Dr. S.K. Singhal remarked that events such as this conclave serve as a bridge connecting past and present students. He observed that, in addition to facilitating the sharing of experiences, such gatherings foster networking opportunities and provide the department with a renewed sense of direction.
Dr. Anjali Verma mentioned that in the afternoon, former associates met one another and reminisced. A humorous poetry session lent a lighthearted atmosphere to the occasion. The program concluded with a "Walk Down Memory Lane" session, during which alumni shared memories, struggles, and achievements from their student days.
