Vardhman Textiles Limited on the occasion of its Chairman S P Oswal’s birthday organized an event in its factory premises inviting students and teachers from ten government schools besides beneficiaries of artificial limbs.

Ludhiana May 9, 2022: Vardhman Textiles Limited on the occasion of its Chairman S P Oswal’s birthday organized an event in its factory premises inviting students and teachers from ten government schools besides beneficiaries of artificial limbs. The event was graced by the presence of company’s JMD Neeraj Jain who articulated the philosophy of Vardhman and its founders saying that serving the society is the end of any economic activity. “If one has to seek all-around development, the growth begins with the underprivileged sections of society” quoted Jain. Other dignitaries present were D K Sindwani (Director – Corporate Services), B B Peer (GM Operations – VSGM), K K Ohri (Head HR – VSGM) and Amit Jain (Head – CSR).  

The event began with showcasing of the paintings made by the students of the schools invited and felicitating them. To appreciate and encourage creativity, the students were given prizes and goodie bags while the teachers were handed over projector for smart classrooms in their schools. Thereafter, beneficiaries of artificial limbs were provided with the sensor fitted artificial limbs. They shared their experiences and story of their lives which proved to be a turning point. These beneficiaries belonged to Ludhiana and were the only earning members of their family. They thanked Vardhman for the humanitarian act saying that being able to conduct everyday life normally will now be a possibility for them. Besides, the doctors from Greentech Foundation through which these limbs were developed and procured, shared how these limbs were different from others.  

Vardhman has already gifted six schools out of the ten present with well-equipped classroom blocks, toilet complexes, water coolers with purifiers, etc. after which not only the enrolment of the schools has gone up but the results have improved. So far, over 65 schools have been covered under the group’s school development program and a documentary discussing the initiative and efforts was played for awareness. Sindwani talked about different CSR initiatives taken by Vardhman and the organization’s commitment to sustainable development. Amit Jain concluded the event by congratulating the winners and wishing best to beneficiaries.
