Ludhiana, August 28, 2025: The Vardhman Group has expressed deep gratitude to the Government of India for its decision to allow duty-free import of cotton into the country till December 31, 2025.
S.P. Oswal, Chairman of Vardhman Group, said the move would provide immense relief to the Indian textile industry, which has been sailing through tough times due to global business uncertainties triggered largely by geopolitical factors over the past couple of years.
He added that being export-oriented, the textile industry has faced challenges similar to other export-dependent sectors. "We assure the Government of India that the industry will be prepared to make necessary sacrifices in view of the gruelling circumstances to protect national interests," Oswal noted.
At the same time, he expressed confidence that the government would also sympathetically consider the representations made by the industry through Texprocil and other associations to enhance global competitiveness and mitigate the present crisis.
