UST hands over 5000 fruit saplings to students of 18 schools in Thiruvananthapuram
UST, a prominent digital transformation solutions company, donated 5000 fruit saplings to students of 18 schools in Thiruvananthapuram, on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, 2025. The fruit saplings were donated to the schools under UST’s Guardians of the Earth CSR initiative, which aims at creating environmental awareness and responsibility in students by encouraging them to care for a tree at home from a young age.

Thiruvananthapuram, June 11, 2025: UST, a prominent digital transformation solutions company, donated 5000 fruit saplings to students of 18 schools in Thiruvananthapuram, on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, 2025. The fruit saplings were donated to the schools under UST’s Guardians of the Earth CSR initiative, which aims at creating environmental awareness and responsibility in students by encouraging them to care for a tree at home from a young age.
UST handed over saplings to students of schools, including Govt GHSS Attingal; Sree Saraswathy Vidyanikethan, Perunguzhi; GUPS Kaniyapuram; GUPS Karyavattom; Govt. HSS Kulathur; Govt UPS Cheruvaickal; Sreekaryam Middle School; Karikkakom GUPS; Govt UP School, Enjakkal; GHS Chalai; Karthika Thirunal Govt Vocational HSS Manacaud; SMV Govt Model School; Govt UPS Nemom; GLPS Peroorkada; Govt UPS Kusavarkal; Govt UPS Kudappanakunnu; Govt High School, Plavoor; Govt HSS Keezharoor; and GHSS Poovathoor Nedumangad.
Each school received 200 or more trees based on enrollment. Students from the fifth to the tenth grade were selected to receive the saplings. In addition, they were also presented with a ‘Tree Treasure Book’ to record the updates on the growth of the saplings. Students who submit photographs of the trees after 4 years would be presented with the goodies. UST also extended an invitation to the schools that care for their trees to visit the campus.
The handover function at SMV school was inaugurated by Sheffi Anwar, General Manager, Business operations & Workplace Management, UST, while the function at Govt UPS Nemom school was inaugurated by Krishna Prasad, Chief Strategy Officer & CIO, UST. Meanwhile, the function at Karthika Thirunal Govt Vocational HSS, Manacaud, was inaugurated by Gayathri Nair, Practice Head - Process Advisory & Consulting Service Line, UST, and the function at GUPS, Kaniyapuram, was inaugurated by Prasanth Sreekumar, Cluster Head, while the function at Govt UP School Karikkakom, was inaugurated by Sinu Sam, Program Manager, UST.
“The handing over of more than 5000 fruit saplings to as many as 18 schools in Thiruvananthapuram marked UST’s celebration of World Environment Day this year. The gesture that roped in school kids who would grow to be responsible citizens of tomorrow, comes close to UST’s vision of creating a better tomorrow through effective transformation of lives around us. We are sure that this would aid us in the creation of a greener planet with the help of India’s future citizens. Inspired by the enthusiastic response received for the initiative, we plan to expand it to other UST locations in the coming years. I thank all students and schools that were involved in this noble initiative for making it a great success,” said Sunil Balakrishnan, Chief Values Officer, and Global Head of Center Operations, UST.
The project was planned and coordinated by Vineeth Mohanan, CSR Lead, UST. More than 140 employees from UST attended the handover functions organised at the schools.
