Urological cancers can be prevented: Dr Aulakh

Ludhiana: Dr Baldev Singh Aulakh renowned urologist and Transplant surgeon at Aykai hospital, Ludhiana was invited by Punjab Agricultural university alumni to deliver talk on prevention of prostate, kidney and urinary bladder cancer.
Dr Aulakh told gathering of about 400 which included Dr S.S. Johl, Chancellor, Central University of Punjab; Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice Chancellor, PAU, Dr SS Kukal, Dean College of Agriculture, PAU; Dr Diljeet Pal Singh Brar, MLA Canada, Dr C S Aulakh, Director School of Organic Farming, PAU that early warning signs of these cancer should never be ignored. One such sign is blood in the urine which can indicate kidney, prostate or bladder cancer. In early stages, these cancers can be completely cured. Even kidney can be saved removing cancer in early stages. But delay in treatment can lead to dangerous spread of tumour. Various factors to prevent these cancers are:
1.KIDNEY CANCER
A. Quitting smoking.
B. Lowering blood pressure.
C. Maintaining a healthy body weight.
D. Eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables and low in fat.
2. PROSTATE CANCER
A. Eat tomatoes and other red foods, Green Vegetables
B. Consider soybeans and green tea
C. olive oil instead of butter
D. fruit instead of candy
E. fresh vegetables instead of prepackaged foods
F. nuts or seeds instead of cheese
G. Avoid meat overcooking
H. Stop smoking
I. Fish and Omega3
J. Regular Exercise
3. BLADDER CANCER
A. Stop Smoking and Tobacco Exposure in any form.
B. Avoid Exposure to industrial chemicals, such as aromatic amines, arsenic, rubber, leather, textiles, dyes (including hair dyes), aluminum, plastic, carpet, metal and printing/paint products
C. Prevent Chronic bladder irritation or infections
D. Careful exposure to Certain chemotherapy drugs and radiation treatment
E. Avoid Inadequate hydration
F. Avoid Prolonged use of certain medications (e.g. pioglitazone, phenacetin) and certain Chinese herbs
G. Treat Schistosoma haematobium parasite adequately
