Upper areas of Dharamsala experienced fresh snow intensifying cold wave in area

Dharamsala, February 4, 2022: Dal Lake-Naddi's road contact with Dharamshala  city has been cut off due to snowfall in Upper Dharamsala for the past 24 hours. The cold wave has intensified due to incessant snowfall on Dhauladhar ranges of Kangra district from Dalhousie, McLeodganj, Naddi to Bir Billing  and widespread rain in the Kangra Valley. Due to this ongoing Fresh snowfall and  rain, the temperature has dropped, due to which the cold wave has intensified  across the area. Dharamsala is shivering with a day temperature of 2 degree Celsius.

There is 30 cm fresh snowfall recorded till 8am today in Dalhousie and fresh snowfall has also occurred again in Naddi, Triund, Khadota, Dharamkot, McLeodganj and Bhagsunag of Dharamsala-McLeodganj range. 29.2 mm rain recorded in Dharamsala and 22.8mm rain in Palampur in the past 12 hours. 

At the same time,  rain continued throughout the day in the lower areas of Dhouladhar foothills. The Meteorological Department has also predicted rain throughout the day today. However, due to fresh snowfall in the areas around  McLeodganj, the movement of tourists has also increased. Due to which there is relief for other businessmen including hotels. But due to snowfall, problems have increased for the local people. Due to rain and snowfall, the district administration has also issued an advisory, in which it has been said not to go to the snow-prone areas.

The Meteorological Centre of Himachal has said that on Friday, Light to Moderate Rainfall is Likely to continue in many parts of the state. Light to moderate Snowfall in the District of Shimla, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti and in the higher reaches of Solan, Sirmaur, Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, Kangra.Visibility conditions are very likely to remain poor during this period.
