Ludhiana, April 16, 2026: In a resounding display of unity and confidence, noted industrialist Upkar Singh Ahuja has been re-elected as the President of the Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) for the upcoming term—unopposed. The announcement was made during the Annual General Body Meeting held at the CICU Complex in Ludhiana.
Ahuja’s nomination received overwhelming support from across the industrial fraternity. His name was proposed and endorsed by distinguished group of senior members, including Padma Shri Onkar Singh Pahwa, Ram Lubhaya, Ashwani Kohli, Vijay Maini, J.S. Bhogal, Jaspal Singh Shapuri, Satinderjeet Singh Barnala, Sudarshan Gosain, G.S. Dhillon, Charanjit Vishwakarma, Daljit Singh (Dicco), Lakhwir Singh (Lucky), Satinderjeet Singh (Auton), Dr. S.B. Singh, Sandeep Jain, S.P. Singh, Jatinder Mittal, G.S. Sachdeva, Harkesh Mittal, Ravinder Saini, Gautam Malhotra, Gagandeep Singh, Deepjyot Singh, Amit Sharma, Rajesh Chopra, Gurmukh Singh, Didarjeet Singh Lotey, Kanish Kaura, Ajay Bharti, Sanjay Dhiman, Saravjeet Singh, and Honey Sethi, among others. With no opposing nominations filed, the election process concluded seamlessly, reaffirming Ahuja’s strong leadership and widespread acceptance.
The proceedings were conducted under the supervision of Vishav Bandhu Monga, former Joint Director, Department of Industries & Commerce, Punjab, who served as the Presiding Officer. He formally declared Ahuja elected as President and congratulated him, expressing confidence in his continued commitment to advancing industrial growth and strengthening the MSME ecosystem.
Ahuja’s previous tenure has been widely acknowledged as progressive and transformative. Under his leadership, CICU established several pioneering initiatives, including the Centre of Excellence, Reverse Engineering Lab, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Lab, and the AWaDH Lab (Agriculture & Water Technology Development Hub). These initiatives have significantly contributed to enhancing technological capabilities, promoting innovation, and supporting modernization within the MSME sector. In addition to infrastructure and innovation-driven projects, Ahuja has played a crucial role in addressing core industry concerns through consistent policy advocacy at both state and national levels. His tenure saw the organization actively engage with government bodies on key issues such as rising raw material costs, export challenges, and logistics bottlenecks. CICU also conducted numerous awareness sessions to educate members on government schemes, compliance frameworks, and emerging business opportunities, thereby strengthening the overall industrial ecosystem.
