Ludhiana, January 3, 2026: The Sakhi One-Stop Centre in local Civil Hospital continues to serve as a vital lifeline for women facing violence or distress, under Mission Shakti– a flagship program dedicated to women's safety, security, and empowerment.
Operating seamlessly with the 181 Women Helpline, the centre is ensuring round-the-clock emergency response, rapid outreach, and access to integrated services for women in crisis.
Following a thorough assessment by district administration, Tansheen Kaur from the governance cell led a successful upgrade initiative led by Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Hain. The administration partnered with the Philanthropy Club NGO, essential facilities were swiftly provided, transforming the centre into a more efficient and welcoming space for beneficiaries.
Since its inception, the Sakhi One-Stop Centre in Ludhiana has registered a total of 1,471 cases, successfully resolving 1,459 of them—an outstanding resolution rate that underscores the centre's timely, sensitive, and highly effective interventions. The dedicated team has also extended police assistance in 525 cases to ensure protection and legal security, provided safe temporary shelter to 49 women during critical crises, delivered comprehensive medical support—including both physical and psychological care—to 279 women through close coordination with health institutions, and offered vital legal aid and counselling to 366 beneficiaries, empowering them with guidance, emotional recovery, and access to justice.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain stated that the Sakhi One-Stop Centre offers a comprehensive range of services available 24x7, including emergency crisis intervention seamlessly linked to the 181 Women Helpline, secure temporary accommodation for women in need, police facilitation and protection to ensure immediate safety, comprehensive medical assistance covering both physical and psychological care, legal guidance, counselling, and dedicated court support to navigate justice processes, as well as coordinated efforts with relevant departments for rehabilitation and long-term reintegration into society.
Jain added that the district administration along with Philanthropy Club, and other partners are dedicated to ongoing enhancements, guaranteeing that every woman in need receives prompt support, care, and justice.
