United Press Club distributes financial assistance to families of departed journalists 

Ludhiana, November 24, 2021: The United Press Club (Regd.) organised a function at the local Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan to pay homage to the departed journalists in the recent past.
On the occasion, a cheque of Rs.51,000 to each beneficiary family was given as financial assistance. A slide show on the professional journey of journalists who have passed away in the recent past was also shown to the audience. As a result, people gathered there got very emotional.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajiv Dutta, OSD to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that this initiative of the club would pave the way for fulfilling social responsibility for the journalist community in future. 
Press Club of India President Uma Kant said that it is often said that there is darkness under the lamp, but due to this event, the UPC has shown the light under the lamp. 
Daljit Singh Cheema, General Secretary, Shiromani Akali Dal said that it was the responsibility of the society towards the journalist community who guide the society. Municipal Councillor Mamata Ashu while representing Cabinet Minister Punjab Bharat Bhushan Ashu, said the government would soon make a big announcement for the club and the entire journalist fraternity to ensure the social security of those involved in this sacred profession. 
MLA Kuldeep Vaid also asked the government to come up with a concrete plan for the social security of journalists. 
Present on the occasion were MLA Rakesh Pandey, MLA Sanjay Talwar, Shiromani Akali Dal General Secretary Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Pritpal Singh, Kamal Chetley, Chairman Ludhiana Improvement Trust Raman Subramaniam, Amarjit Singh Tikka, AAP Leader Ashok Parashar, Kulwant Singh Sidhu, Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal, BJP leader Advocate Bikram Sidhu, Shahi Imam Maulana Mohammad Usman, Mustaqim Ahirari, former MLA Ranjit Singh Dhillon, Vijay Danav, Chaudhary Yash Pal, Parminder Mehta, Palwinder Laparan besides a large number of personalities were present. 
The Club's chairman Munish Attri, president Arshdeep Samar, vice president Riteish Mahindra also felicitated the guests and the families of the departed journalists.
