Dr Amar Singh, MP, Shri Fatehgarh Sahib.

Ludhiana, August 2, 2019: Dr Amar Singh, MP, Shri Fatehgarh Sahib demands Central Government to take measures to counter the effects of climate change on Punjab's rivers.

He was speaking in the Lok Sabha.

While citing a report that the Sutlej may lose almost 50% of its flow due to shrinking glaciers, Dr Singh highlighted how all major North Indian rivers and those in Punjab were all glacial fed.

He went on to stress these rivers were the lifeline of Punjab and north India and given Punjab's contribution to nations food security, it's imperative that the Central Government study the matter in detail and prepare an appropriate action plan to counter climate change and global warming effect on our rivers.
