UILS organizes pre placement talk

Chandigarh: Career Development Cell (CDC) of the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, organized Pre-placement talk and mentorship session with Mr. Bharat Chugh, former Judge (Rank 1, Delhi Judicial Service Examination) and Partner Designate at Luthra and Luthra Partners, New Delhi, one of the leading law firms of the country which specializes in International Arbitration, Complex Commercial Litigation, Corporate Criminal Liability and White Collar Crime, Anti-Corruption Law etc. The session was organized with an aim to impart knowledge about various career pathways in the field of law. 

In his interaction, Mr. Chug deliberated upon various aspects of judgeship as well as of lawyering. He focused upon how a judge as well as a lawyer needs to be empathetic, compassionate and pragmatic at the same time rather than being purely mechanical in their service. He also emphasized on using simple and clear language devoid of unnecessary legal jargon in judgment writing so that it could become accessible and reach out to common people. He interacted with students during the session and guided them on their queries regarding the law profession and various career pathways of the same. 

Later, the guest speaker Advocate Meenal Garg, Arbitration Associate, AKB Lex, Panchkula and an alumnus of UILS also graced the gathering and spoke about career aspects in Arbitration Law. He threw light upon the leading niche areas such as Commercial Arbitration and guided the students of UILS about building a career in this field. 

Students attended the session with great enthusiasm. The event was a huge success and proved to be fruitful to the students of UILS, especially the final year students who would be appearing for the Annual Placement Drive to be conducted by the Career Development Cell (CDC) in March, 2020.
