Chandigarh, September 21, 2026: The Centre for Constitution and Public Policy (CCPP), University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a special lecture on “Law, Ethics and Political Leadership” at the Moot Court Hall, UILS.
The programme commenced with the opening address by Prof. Shruti Bedi, Director, UILS, who warmly welcomed the distinguished speaker, Dr. Lobsang Sangay, and the gathering. Her address set the context for the lecture and highlighted the significance of engaging with contemporary questions surrounding law, ethics and political leadership.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Lobsang Sangay, Lecturer at Harvard Law School, Senior Visiting Fellow at the East Asian Legal Studies Program, Harvard Law School, and former President (Sikyong) of the Central Tibetan Administration.
Dr. Sangay spoke on the intersection of law, ethics and political leadership, drawing upon his extensive experience in public leadership and his work in the fields of human rights, democracy and international law. He also discussed contemporary challenges concerning constitutional governance, democratic values and the role of law in shaping public leadership.
The lecture provided students and faculty members with an opportunity to engage with Dr. Sangay and gain insights from his academic and professional experience. The interactive session was followed by an engaging discussion and exchange of questions with the audience.
Prof. (Dr.) Virender Negi and Assistant Prof. (Dr.) Nidhi Sharma delivered the vote of thanks, expressing their gratitude to Dr. Sangay and all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the programme.
