UIFT&VD, Panjab University organised M.Sc. Dissertation Poster Presentation 

The University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development (UIFT&VD), Panjab University (PU) organised a Poster Presentation of M.Sc. Dissertation Research Projects. The event showcased research work by final-year M.Sc students on themes related to sustainable fashion, textile innovation, traditional crafts, apparel design, consumer behaviour, occupational health, and cultural studies.

Chandigarh, May 7, 2026: The University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development (UIFT&VD), Panjab University (PU) organised a Poster Presentation of M.Sc. Dissertation Research Projects. The event showcased research work by final-year M.Sc students on themes related to sustainable fashion, textile innovation, traditional crafts, apparel design, consumer behaviour, occupational health, and cultural studies.
The presentations highlighted contemporary issues and emerging trends in fashion and textile studies, with projects focusing on circular fashion, upcycling, revival of crafts such as Phulkari and Batik, eco conscious product development, women’s welfare in the textile sector, sustainable materials, jewellery preferences, costume studies, intellectual property rights, and innovative textile applications.
The event was organised under the Chief Patronship of PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig and under the guidance of Prof. Prabhdip Brar, Chairperson, UIFT&VD, while Dr. Avanish Kumar is coordinating the event.
An external jury comprising Prof. Suveera Gill, Honorary Director, Centre for Skill Development, and Prof. Gaurav Gaur, former Chairperson, Centre for Social Work, PU, evaluated the research projects and interacted with the students during the session.
The following students received recognition for their research work. Award for Excellence in Product Concept Research (First Prize) was presented to Sanjana Sharma on 'A study on Development of Innerwear for elderly women' and second prize to Shruti Yadav on 'Revival of Batik printing using non-traditional bases.'
Award for Excellence in Theoretical Research (First Prize) was presented to Umang Rana on 'A study of Intellectual Property Rights and its understanding among Design students and Academicians' and Second Prize to Juli Verma on 'Leaf Craft Traditions: A Journey through Mandi, Himachal Pradesh’s Heritage.' The Jury Special Award was awarded to Palki Khurana on 'A study on Development of Banana Pseudostem handmade paper and café-based products.'
