UICET’s B.E. Chemical Engineering Programme Secures NBA Accreditation Extension Till 2028

Chandigarh, December 12, 2025: Dr. SSB University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (UICET), Panjab University, Chandigarh, has announced that its B.E. Chemical Engineering programme has been granted an extension of accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) until December 2028.

This achievement highlights UICET’s commitment to academic excellence, outcome-based education and global benchmarking in Chemical Engineering. The programme’s strengths include a rigorous and continually updated curriculum integrating advanced simulation tools, AI-based applications and industry-relevant software.

The institute recently earned national recognition when its student team secured second prize in HMEL QUEST 2025 organised by HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited. UICET also maintains a strong placement record, with graduates opting for leading industry roles and higher studies abroad. Strengthening its global collaborations, the institute has an MoU with YNU, Japan, and has signed an MoU for a dual degree programme in Chemical Engineering with the University of Houston, USA.

The institute offers state-of-the-art laboratories, modern computing infrastructure, a dedicated library and comprehensive campus facilities. In 2024, UICET appointed six Professors of Practice from industry whose expertise has enhanced teaching quality, improved student readiness for industrial roles and supported compliance with accreditation requirements for the next cycle beginning January 1, 2026.

A feedback system embedded in the outcome-based education framework ensures continuous improvement of the programme. “This accreditation recognises the collective dedication of our faculty, staff and students,” said Prof. Anupama Sharma, Chairperson, UICET. Dr. Surinder Singh Bhinder, NBA Coordinator and Training & Placement Officer, added that the institute has achieved nearly 100 percent placements in 2023 - 24 and 2024 - 25 among eligible candidates.
