UICET Alumnus Sanjay Samaddar Donates Rs.15 Lakh for ASPEN Plus Software Licences
The Panjab University (PU), Dr. S.S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (UICET) has received a contribution of Rs. 15 lakh from its alumnus Sanjay Samaddar (1984 batch) towards the procurement of 150 licences of ASPEN Plus, a widely used process simulation software in the chemical and allied industries.

Chandigarh, December 29, 2025: The Panjab University (PU), Dr. S.S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (UICET) has received a contribution of Rs. 15 lakh from its alumnus Sanjay Samaddar (1984 batch) towards the procurement of 150 licences of ASPEN Plus, a widely used process simulation software in the chemical and allied industries.
Samaddar currently serves as Vice President at ArcelorMittal and is Chief Executive Officer, ArcelorMittal Europe – Long Products.
The contribution is expected to strengthen teaching, learning, and research at UICET by enabling students and faculty to access industry-standard simulation tools used for chemical process design, optimisation, and analysis. The availability of ASPEN Plus licences will contribute to hands-on training, enhance alignment between academic instruction and industrial practice, and contribute to improved employability and research preparedness of students.
The Institute expresses its appreciation for Samaddar’s continued association with his alma mater and his support towards academic capacity building.
