Chandigarh, October 2, 2026: University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), Panjab University, has launched an MS Excel Learning Programme for its first-year MBA students, marking a first-time student-led initiative aimed at strengthening practical and industry-relevant digital skills.
The sessions in this program will commence from 6 October 2026 at 4:30 PM onwards. It will help students progress from Excel fundamentals to advanced skills through practical and hands-on learning. The sessions will be conducted in the evenings after regular classes on working days, allowing students to participate without affecting their regular academic schedule.
A key benefit of the initiative is that students will learn as a community. The programme provides a platform for students to learn together, share knowledge, support one another, discuss practical challenges and build skills through peer learning and collaborative practice. This community-based approach is expected to make learning more engaging and continuous.
Prof. Anupreet Kaur Mavi, Director, UIAMS, congratulated the entire team for taking up this first-time initiative at UIAMS. She appreciated the students for creating a platform that promotes peer learning, collaboration and continuous skill development, and encouraged students to make the best use of the opportunity.
The initiative has been led by the Class Representatives (CRs) Mohit Kumar, Jaskaran Preet Singh Saini and Subeg Singh Sidhu. Vishal and Aasmi Gupta will be working as the student coordinators for this program. The team has worked together to conceptualise and organise the programme and create a structured platform through which students can learn MS Excel collectively and support each other in developing practical skills.
The programme will focus on Excel applications relevant to academics, projects, internships and placements. Students will also have access to free and quality learning resources, along with special faculty-led sessions every week.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Amandeep Singh Marwaha, Training-cum-Placement Officer (TPO), UIAMS, appreciated the efforts of the student team and highlighted that the programme provides an opportunity for students to develop an important professional skill while learning collectively. He encouraged students to actively participate, practise regularly and support their peers throughout the learning journey.
