Rohtak, June 26, 2026: The Biochemistry Laboratory of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak has received the prestigious accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH). Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.K. Aggarwal extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Head of the Biochemistry Department, Dr. Simmi Kharb, and her team on this achievement.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.K. Aggarwal stated that with the NABH accreditation, all tests conducted at the PGIMS Biochemistry Lab will now meet international quality standards. Reports issued from here will be recognized by hospitals and institutions across the country and abroad. The Vice-Chancellor remarked that this is not merely a certificate, but a testament to public trust. He added that continuous efforts are being made to establish PGIMS, Rohtak, as the most trusted government testing center in North India.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Aggarwal noted that PGIMS conducts biochemistry tests for over 3,000 patients daily, covering critical parameters such as blood sugar, kidney function, liver function, lipid profiles, and hormone levels. Following the NABH accreditation, a quality guarantee will now accompany every report. Even the poorest patients can now obtain reliable reports—comparable to those from private laboratories—free of cost at the government hospital.
Dr. Simmi Kharb, Head of the Biochemistry Department, explained that to secure NABH accreditation, the team had been working for nearly a year to meet hundreds of standards, including the calibration of all laboratory equipment, staff training, meticulous record-keeping at every stage of testing, and quality control measures. She mentioned that the NABH team granted this accreditation after thoroughly examining every process over a period of three days.
Expressing special gratitude to the team members—including Quality Coordinator Dr. Vasudha, Dr. Gulshan, Dr. Deepika, Umesh, Jaspreet, Vijay Kalra, and all the Lab Technicians (LTs)—she noted that NABH is an autonomous body under the Quality Council of India (Government of India) that grants accreditation after assessing the technical competence and quality systems of laboratories. Reports from NABH-accredited laboratories are recognized in over 100 countries.
