UHSR Vice Chancellor Dr. H.K. Aggarwal urges young surgeons to learn new techniques and benefit patients

Rohtak, February 14, 2026: 44th North Zone Orthopedic Association (NZOACON) 2026, the three-day annual conference, organized by the Department of Orthopedics at Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences was formally inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Dr. H.K. Aggarwal.

Chief Guest, VC Dr. H.K. Aggarwal, in his address, highlighted the importance of innovations and modern technologies in orthopedics, saying that this conference would encourage new research and treatment methods in the medical field and provide better healthcare to patients.

He said that we need to adopt the latest technologies to establish ourselves internationally. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has opened AIIMS across the country to promote healthcare.

The Vice Chancellor called on young surgeons to participate in this program, learn new methods and techniques, ask questions, and benefit the general public.

Dr. Roop Singh, Head of the Department of Orthopedics, delivered the welcome address. He said that a cadaveric workshop was held for the first time. The Ortho Department's first alumni meet was also organized. Over 200 abstracts were presented during the conference. He said that the purpose of this event was to provide education beyond the textbooks and impart practical knowledge.

Dr. Roop Singh said that the conference discussed the latest research and treatment methods related to the hip and lower limb. The three major sessions included Trauma, Knee, and Primary Hip Arthroplasty Symposium.

Experts Dr. S.K. Modi, Dr. Sansar Chand Sharma, Dr. M.G. Vashisht, and Dr. Ravindra Kant Manocha delivered lectures on topics such as polytrauma, intertrochanteric fractures, femur neck fractures, and pylon fractures in the trauma session. Dr. K.C. Mudgil, Dr. Prateek Kumar Gupta, Dr. Raju Eswaran, and Dr. Praveen Chawla discussed biomechanics, PCL surgery, meniscus problems, and ACL reconstruction in the knee session. At the Primary Hip Arthroplasty Symposium, Dr. R.K. Gupta, Dr. K.D. Sharma, Dr. Anil Rane, and Dr. Ishwar Bohra discussed various aspects of hip arthroplasty, such as THR in ankylosing spondylitis and spino-pelvic balance.

Dr. Ashish Devgan expressed his gratitude and said that orthopedic surgeons from across the country are participating in this conference and sharing their experiences on complex medical cases. The forum was moderated by Dr. Umesh Yadav, in-charge of the Public Relations Department.

Vice Chancellor Dr. H.K. Aggarwal also released the Orthopedics Department's souvenir. Dr. Shanta Ram Sethi was awarded the Dr. P.S. Maini Oration Award. Dr. S.S. Yadav and Dr. Narendra Kumar Maggu were honored with the North Zone Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dr Mandeep Sachdeva from Haryana Medical Council, Director Dr S.K. Singhal, Dean Academic Affairs Dr M.G. Vashisht, Medical Superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal, Dental College Principal Dr Sanjay Tiwari, Dr Naveen Thakkar, Dr Amandeep Bakshi, Dr Siddharth Sharma, Dr Ashish Devgan and other participating doctors were present during the event.
