Two UIPS Students Awarded Commonwealth Scholarships

Khushboo Pathania and Akhil Khajuria, two Ph.D. research scholars from UIPS, Panjab University, have been selected as Commonwealth Scholars. These distinguished scholars were selected under the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s Split-site Ph.D. programme, reflecting academic excellence, strong international research collaboration, and the global relevance of their doctoral work.

Chandigarh, July 23, 2025: Khushboo Pathania and Akhil Khajuria, two Ph.D. research scholars from UIPS, Panjab University, have been selected as Commonwealth Scholars. These distinguished scholars were selected under the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s Split-site Ph.D. programme, reflecting academic excellence, strong international research collaboration, and the global relevance of their doctoral work.

While Akhil, who is currently working under the guidance of Dr. Gurpal Singh, UIPS, and Dr. Ravi Pratap Barnwal, Department of Biophysics, Panjab University, will now work at the University of Central Lancashire, UK, Khushboo, presently working under the mentorship of Dr. Sandip V. Pawar and Dr. Sangeeta P. Sah at UIPS, will work at the University of Nottingham, UK.

It is vital to mention that the Commonwealth Secretariat expends nearly £50,000 (~₹55 lakh) on each of such selected meritorious students. With these two students included, UIPS can take prestige in getting a total of 11 scholars being awarded with this coveted international scholarship.
