Two people lost their lives due to rain in Kangra district today     

Dharamsala, August 20, 2022: Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal said that two people have died due to collapse of two kutcha houses in subdivision Dhira and Shahpur of Kangra district due to heavy rain today.  While two people trapped in the river in Kunjeshwar Mahadev have been rescued. He said that Chakki Bank Bridge has also been damaged due to heavy floods.  Dr Nipun Jindal said that 50 kutcha houses, 39 gaushalas and three pucca houses have been damaged due to heavy rains in Kangra district. DC Kangra said that 25 people have been shifted to the relief center at Haled in Jaisinghpur.

He further said that the National Highway and connectivity roads blocked due to landslides are being opened for traffic.   Deputy Commissioner said that all the sub-divisional officers have been instructed to make permanent arrangements for JCBs etc. in the landslide-sensitive roads, besides, there should be a complete ban on the movement of people in the flood-sensitive areas.
 
He said that the damage report is also being prepared by IPH, Public Works Department, Agriculture and Horticulture Department.

Deputy Commissioner Kangra Dr Nipun Jindal himself took stock of the damage caused by today's rain in various areas of the district and instructions have been given to the departmental officers to expedite the relief and rehabilitation works. He said that immediate relief should be provided to the affected with immediate effect and no laxity should be taken in this.
 
Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal said that the Meteorological Department has predicted rain in the coming days as well. He said that all citizens should avoid to go near rivers and ravines, and tourists have also been requested to postpone the journey for a few days so that there is no problem in their trip.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal said that disaster control rooms have been set up at the district and sub-divisional level and the these control rooms will remain open 24 hours a day, information related to any kind of damage or disaster must be given to the control room so that timely disaster management can be done.
