Two members of a family lost their lives and three others sustained serious injuries in a tragic road accident in the Shahpur Assembly constituency of Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh.
Dharamshala, March 28, 2026: Two members of a family lost their lives and three others sustained serious injuries in a tragic road accident in the Shahpur Assembly constituency of Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh.
The accident occurred near Ghera village on the Dharkandi road, where a car reportedly went out of control and plunged into a deep gorge. The occupants were returning from a private function at the time of the mishap.
The incident came to light on Saturday morning when passersby noticed a severely damaged vehicle lying in the gorge and alerted the authorities. Eyewitnesses said the car was completely mangled, indicating the severity of the crash. It is suspected that the accident took place late at night, leaving the victims without immediate help for several hours.
According to ASP Bir Bahadur, the deceased have been identified as Karan Bahadur (40) and Kareena Devi (18). Three other occupants of the vehicle were rescued in an injured condition.
Upon receiving information, the police and the 108 ambulance service rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation with the assistance of local residents. The injured were initially taken to a nearby hospital and later referred to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, due to their critical condition.
The police have registered a case, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. An investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
