Two-day MCCD Training Workshop begins at DMCH

Ludhiana, February 24, 2014: A two-day training workshop on Medical Certification of Cause of Death (MCCD) began on Monday at Dumra Auditorium of Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana. The senior and junior residents of all departments of DMCH participated in this training. This workshop was held in collaboration with the Directorate of Census Operations, Punjab(GOI).
Dr Daljit Singh, Principal welcomed the participants and highlighted the need for holding this type of training for medical practitoners. He pointed out the importance of recording of correct cause of death for the national and international comparison and policy matters. Sh BB Jain from Census Department was also present.
Dr R K Soni discussed about the International Classification of Disease (ICD-10). He emphasized that the coding of morbidity and mortality should be done as per ICD 10 pattern so as to have uniformaty of data. Dr J.K. Sharma, Consultant, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stressed that proper cause of death should be mentioned by the treating doctors.
