Two-day ICMR Workshop held

Ludhiana, November 4, 2022: Department of Community Medicine in association with Department of Food and Nutrition PAU Ludhiana organized a two day  (3rd and 4th Nov.) ICMR workshop for capacity building of young researchers for carrying out nutrition research.

The event was formally inaugurated by Secretary DMCH Managing Society  Prem Kumar Gupta along with Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Vice Principal Dr G S Wander, Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Dr Anurag Chaudhary, Professor and Head Professor Department of Community Medicine. The workshop was organized by Dr R K Soni of DMC and Dr Kiran Bains of PAU Ludhiana. Dr Priyanka G Bansal, Scientist from ICMR and her team members presented and discussed various concerns about nutrition research. 

In his message, Secretary DMCH Managing Society appreciated the efforts of the Department of Community Medicine and said that proper nutrition plays a vital for a healthy body and sound mind.

Dr Sandeep Puri, Principal said,” I am thankful for ICMR to give this opportunity to learn to these young students, who will fan out in the world and carry on the deliberation on nutrition research”

Dr GS Wander, Vice Principal, said that these students are the future researchers and encouraged them to realize the value to research. And stressed that this workshop will inspire a lot of students to focus on nutrition as well.

During the workshop, Dr G S Toteja, Former Addl. DG, ICMR  highlighted the Nutrition Scenario in India, Dr Zian Gonmei Scientist C ICMR elaborated about the research opportunities in Nutrition.

The workshop was attended by more than 200 participants. Various quiz session, group discussion made this event more interactive.
