Holi, the festival of colours, is a time when joy spills onto the streets, families come together, and childhood memories come alive with every splash of gulaal. For &TV artists, the festival is not just about vibrant celebrations but also about reliving their fondest memories and creating new ones with loved ones. From nostalgic hometown stories to this year’s celebration plans and favourite festive delicacies, &TV actors share how they plan to celebrate Holi in their own special way. Jayshankar Tripathi (Playing Mahesh sharma in the upcoming show Hey Bhagwaan – Kitna Badal Gaya Insaan), Seerat Kapoor (Savi in Gharwali Pedwali), Yogesh Tripathi (Daroga Happu Singh in Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), and Shilpa Shinde (Angoori Bhabi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai). Jayshankar Tripathi, who will be seen as Mahesh Sharma in &TV’s upcoming show Hey Bhagwaan – Kitna Badal Gaya Insaan, shares, “Holi in my hometown has always been larger than life. I remember celebrating in the narrow lanes with friends and family, playing with colours from morning till evening, and then gathering for a big feast. The aroma of freshly made gujiya and dahi vada would fill the house. Those carefree days, filled with laughter and togetherness, are still my favourite Holi memories. This year feels even more special and blessed because I get to celebrate not just with my family but also with my Hey Bhagwaan – Kitna Badal Gaya Insaan team. Spending time with my co-actors and crew, who have become like a second family, makes the festival even more meaningful. We are planning a small celebration on set with organic colours, some fun music, and lots of festive cheer. After pack-up, I will head home to continue the celebrations with my loved ones. For me, Holi is about gratitude and togetherness. I feel truly thankful to be working on a show I cherish and to have such wonderful people around me. And of course, I cannot imagine Holi without gujiya and a glass of thandai it completes the celebration and brings back all those beautiful childhood memories!”
Seerat Kapoor, who plays Savi in &TV’s Gharwali Pedwali, says, “Holi has always been special in my hometown Chandigarh. As kids, we would eagerly wait for the festival, filling balloons with water and planning playful surprises for our neighbours. After hours of fun, we would sit together and enjoy delicious festive treats like puran poli and malpua. Those memories still make me smile. This year, I am planning a cosy celebration with friends from the industry. We are thinking of hosting a small Holi brunch with music, colours, and lots of festive food. For me, Holi is about togetherness, positivity, and indulging in all the traditional sweets without counting calories!” Yogesh Tripathi, who essays Daroga Happu Singh in &TV’s Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, shares with a laugh, “Holi in my hometown was pure madness in the best way possible! We would start early in the morning and go from house to house applying colours and sharing sweets. There was always music, dancing, and endless plates of gujiya, kachori, and namakpare. One of my favourite memories is of the entire neighbourhood coming together like one big family. The colours would often stay on our skin and clothes for days, reminding us of the fun and laughter long after the festival was over. The celebrations would always begin with the traditional Holika Dahan, lighting the bonfire with prayers and wishes for happiness and prosperity. This year, I plan to celebrate on the sets with my co-actors, enjoying some playful colour fights and laughter, and later continue the festivities with my family at home. Good food, music, laughter, a little friendly mischief, and the lingering hues of Holi that is my perfect way to celebrate!” Shilpa Shinde, who plays Angoori Bhabi in &TV’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai 2.0, adds, “Holi reminds me of my childhood celebrations back home in Maharashtra, where the festival would begin with the traditional Holika Dahan, lighting the bonfire with prayers for prosperity and happiness. The next day was pure joy playing with vibrant dry colours, bursting water balloons, dancing to folk tunes, and running through the streets with friends and family. My mother would prepare delicious Maharashtrian festive treats like puran poli, shrikhand, and special snacks that we eagerly waited for all year. The air would be filled with laughter, music, and the aroma of these homemade delicacies, making the festival truly unforgettable. Those memories are very close to my heart, and this year, I plan to celebrate in the same spirit, keeping it joyful yet intimate with close friends and family. I especially look forward to playing with dry colours safely, indulging in traditional Maharashtrian treats, and soaking in the positive energy and togetherness that Holi brings. For me, celebrating Holi in Maharashtra is not just about colours it is about reliving cherished traditions, sharing love, and creating happiness wherever you are.”
