Rohtak, September 17, 2026: MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia urged students to turn local products, technologies and ideas into innovative ventures capable of competing in global markets.
Addressing a workshop-cum-academic deliberation on ‘Vocal for Local in Support of Viksit Bharat@2047’, organised by the Institute of Management Studies and Research (IMSAR), Prof. Punia said self-reliance must begin with individuals and extend to society and the nation. He said youth, research, innovation and entrepreneurship would play a key role in realising the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
Citing India’s achievements in space technology, he encouraged students to explore emerging sectors such as defence and space and make use of government schemes to develop ventures addressing domestic needs while targeting global markets.
The programme featured a student debate on ‘Vocal for Local – From Slogan to Sustainable Competitive Strategy’, followed by discussions on entrepreneurship, branding, innovation, technology and competitiveness. Group discussions and an open house saw students present recommendations and practical suggestions.
Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Randeep Rana stressed quality, scale and public participation for taking local products to global markets. Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal said MDU’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyan–Seva Mera Yogdan from September 17 to October 17 would focus on service, Vocal for Local and Viksit Bharat.
Prof. Pradeep K. Ahlawat, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences and Director, IMSAR, highlighted the role of management education in strengthening entrepreneurship and local industries. The recommendations will be compiled into a document for Viksit Bharat@2047.
