Rohtak, September 30, 2026: MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Poonia urged students to turn innovative ideas into viable ventures and develop solutions to pressing social problems. He was speaking at an awareness programme on the ‘Seva First Innovation Challenge’, organised at the Faculty Development Centre under the university’s Seva Sankalp campaign.
The programme was organised by the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) and the Department of Students’ Welfare in collaboration with MSME, Rohtak. Students, research scholars, innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs participated in the event.
Prof. Poonia said the university was creating a strong ecosystem to mainstream entrepreneurship and promote socially relevant innovations. He encouraged students to explore available opportunities and turn their ideas into practical solutions.
Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal stressed converting classroom learning and innovation into solutions useful for society and leveraging government schemes and support. Dean Students’ Welfare Prof. Sapna Garg encouraged students to connect with the university’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
CIIE Director Prof. Ajit Kumar outlined the centre’s mentoring, technical support, expert networking and market-access facilities, besides explaining the participation process for the challenge.
Officials from MSME, DIC Rohtak and Punjab National Bank briefed participants on government schemes supporting innovation, entrepreneurship and startups. A dialogue session saw students share their ideas and discuss ways to develop them into sustainable, socially useful solutions.
