Ludhiana, September 29, 2019: Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana, organised Turban Tying competition in the college premises to revive, recall and redress the preaching of Sikh Guru Sahebaan and Gurmat principles and also to motivate the students to tie turban as the youth of present day Punjab is losing interest in Dastaar day by day which is a symbol of chivalry, courage, self-esteem, justice and the benign blessing of Guru Sahebaan.
More than 100 students of undergrad and post-grad participated in this competition.
Dr Arvinder Singh, college Principal while sharing his views about the event said that this college is committed to provide requisite higher education to the students alongwith inculcating moral values and also inspiring them to follow the path shown by the Sikh Guru Sahebaan in their lives practically. He also told that Gurmat Sabha of this college organises this event every year to make the students aware of the significance and importance of Dastaar and also to encourage and motivate them for the same.
Prof.Jaspreet Kaur further added that students participated in this competition with enthusiasm, zeal and vibrant energy. They displayed their talent in tying a turban in various distinguished styles. She also said that to curb the evil of extremism, these kind of events must take place in an educational institution.
The esteemed judges for this competition were; Prof Paramjit Singh, Dr.Bhupinder Singh, Prof B. S. Birdi and Prof Manjit Singh Batalwi.
On this august occasion, Dr. Dalip Singh, Prof. Gurvinder Kaur, Dr. Arvinder Kaur, Prof. Harpreet Singh Dua, Prof. Gurdas Singh, Dr. Paramjit Singh, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur and Prof. Harsimran Singh, the members of Gurmat Sabha were present.
