Plastics and Ploymers is one of them, KT Rama Rao said The journey of plastics in India goes back to 1957. India has 30000 units, proving employment to 4million people. And 80 per cent of these units are SMEs. Hyderabad has 6000 plastic manufacturing units dominated mainly by SMEs contributing a turnover of over Rs 6000crore. And the production capacity is 9 lakh metric tonnes. Off these 6000 units, 28% are micro, 55% small, 15% medium and rest are large, informed KT Rama Rao. Since the year 2017, the Plastics Industry in the Telangana State attracted Rs 1000crore investment providing employment to 2000 people, KT Rama Rao informed The use of Plastics is on the rise in spite of hue and cry made about it. Plastics is omnipresent and it continues to be so until an alternative material is invented said Mr. Anil Reddy Vennam, Chairman, Advisory Committee of IPLEX 2018. KT Rama Rao and Jayesh Ranjan unveiled Exhibition Directiry and Exhibition Daily News Letter. Plastics ban is not the solution. Explore the other possibilities. Change littering habits of people, segregation, recycling has to be encouraged said Anil Reddy. The IPLEX is rotationally held once a year in major centers of South India-Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kochi. The event provides a common platform for participants in the plastic industry- manufactures, dealers, buyers and end-users. It helps visitors and industry stay updated with the latest technological trends, informed Dr SK NAYAK, Director General of CIPET(Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology) added. Government of India is supporting plastics through CIPET, he said. Ban is not a solution said Hiten Bheda, President if The All India Plastics Manufacturers Association. “IPLEX ‘18”, is the South India’s biggest expo on Plastics will be held at Hitex, Madhapur from August 3 to 6. It will be spread over 12000sq mts. 350 exhibitors expected to showcase their products, machinery, equipment. About 50,000 business visitors are expected ruing the four days of the expo. The four day show is expected to do US $ 100 million in business, added Mr. Venu Gopal Jasti, Convenor, IPLEX 2018 and President of TAAPMA. Some of the exhibitors include: Gail India Ltd; ONGC Petro Additions Ltd; XL Plastics; Toshiba Machines; Sudhakar PVC Products Pvt Ltd; Kabra Extrusion Technik Ltd etc and others. Microplastics pollution is a great concern for all of us. We too discourage use of plastic bags. Mere banning without alternative solutions will be a futile effort. The event is happening in the backdrop of serious discussions and concerns about future of Plastics as some states banning some kinds of plastics. There is an unscientific information peddled through social networking and messaging platforms. The value of plastics is only known and seen after understanding the importance of plastics in our lives, different types of plastics, their applications and methods of recycling. There are more myths in these than the facts. We would like to create awareness dispel myths about them Plastic bags alone are not plastics. Plastics have a greater role and nobody can deny this observed many exhibitors. That role cannot be reversed until and unless new innovation is unveiled, new material is discovered, they added The expo is open from 10 am to 6pm. It will conclude on 6th August.
