A Tryst with Learning: IKGPTU Organised two days leadership development learning Programme

Message to Understand the difference between Important & Urgent and between Duty and Service
Jalandhar, June 12, 2017: In order to develop the leadership qualities and to build confidence, IK Gujral Punjab Technical University organized two days leadership development learning programe “Tryst with Learning”. The resource person of the programe was a renowned Motivator Mr. Asit Ghosh from Institute of Leadership and Excellence, New Delhi. This programe was attended by IKG PTU grade ‘A’ employees. Mr.Asit Ghosh motivated the participants to begin any work by keeping in mind its end result. He also emphasized on Word values. He explained the value of two words, i.e., important and urgent, in our lives. He said we always spend our maximum hours to finish the urgent work but the actual satisfaction is to do important work. Mr.Ghosh also elaborated the difference between duty and service. He said when we perform a duty, it shows that we are performing an assignment only, but on the other hand, when we start a service, it is for our inner satisfaction.

His message for the employees was that doing a work is not important, but the way it is done, is important. During his two day sessions, on first day his focus was on the science of effectiveness, awareness and change. He also showed a two hour movie on ‘Change’. On the second day, his discourse was on emotional intelligence and routine exercises. During this two day programe, workshops were also organized and an on the spot script was given to employees and they performed a play on that script.

During the valedictory session of the programe, Chief Guest was IAS Kahn Singh Pannu, Vice chancellor of the University. He also distributed the certificates to the participants.
