Five-time MLA and former minister in the Bihar government, Nitin Nabin, aged 45, has taken over the reins of the organisational structure of the Bharatiya Janata Party at the party headquarters in New Delhi. The BJP is the world’s largest democratic political organisation with the maximum number of members and is currently in its 45th year—coincidentally, the same age as its newly elected National President.
Nitin Nabin assumed charge from J.P. Nadda. Following the transition, BJP leaders and workers across the country have expressed high hopes from the young, energetic, soft-spoken and newly elected National President. On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former National President and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former National President and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, former National President and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, along with Nitin Nabin, shared the dais.
Assembly elections are due in several states in 2026, including West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. In 2027, elections will be held in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Manipur, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. BJP workers and leaders are confident that under the able guidance of Nitin Nabin, the party will perform significantly better than expectations in the upcoming elections across these states.
Nitin Nabin comes from a strong political background. His late father was also an MLA in Bihar, while Nitin Nabin himself has the distinction of being elected as an MLA five times. Known for his sharp political acumen, he has consistently taken public issues seriously and worked earnestly to resolve them in the larger public interest.
From its roots in the Bharatiya Jan Sangh to the Janata Party, and later its formation as the BJP in 1980, the party has grown to become the largest political party in the world. After the era of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani, the focus shifted to Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, whose visionary leadership paved the way for NDA governments in 2014, 2019 and 2024—three consecutive terms. Presently, the NDA also governs in 20 states across the country.
By electing a youthful National President, the BJP has clearly shifted its focus towards understanding the aspirations of India’s youth, advancing the agenda of a developed India, accelerating economic growth and boosting the country’s GDP, thereby paving the way for India’s vision of becoming a “Vishwaguru”.
