Truck damages 66kv tower causes power disruption in Basant Park grid, Swift action by PSPCL ensures quick restoration

Ludhiana, November 25, 2023: In a late-night incident at 12:30 am, a truck collided with a crucial 66KV tower along Gill Road, causing severe damage and disrupting the power supply to the 66KV Basant Park grid.

However, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) acted promptly to address the situation and successfully restored power from the 66KV Dholewal grid.

DPS Grewal, Director Distribution at PSPCL said that the collision resulted in the complete damage of the 66KV tower of Gill Road-Basant Park ckt line, leading to a disruption in the power supply to the Basant Park grid.  He said that the AOTL wing quickly reached the site and promptly informed the local police station about the incident and the police took the truck driver into custody for damaging government property. 

DPS Grewal confirmed that the 11KV Gill Road and Radha Swami Road feeders, connected to the damaged tower, were temporarily out of service due to the fault. However, all other power supplies were successfully restored.

He added that despite the estimated three-day timeline for repairing the damaged tower, alternative arrangements have been implemented to ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers. PSPCL has taken proactive measures to minimize inconvenience to the public during this period.

DPS Grewal reassured the public that PSPCL is committed to resolving the issue swiftly and efficiently. He emphasized that the corporation is working diligently to restore the damaged infrastructure and urged residents to report any concerns promptly.
