Tree plantation drive under Van Mahotsav celebration
Boys Hostel No. 6 and 7 in collaboration with Horticulture Deptt. of Panjab University, Chandigarh today organised tree plantation drive under the Van Mahotsav celebration. The main objective of this event was to inspire students towards environmental conservation and to spread awareness about greening.

Chandigarh July 25, 2025: Boys Hostel No. 6 and 7 in collaboration with Horticulture Deptt. of Panjab University, Chandigarh today organised tree plantation drive under the Van Mahotsav celebration. The main objective of this event was to inspire students towards environmental conservation and to spread awareness about greening.
The event is inaugurated by Jaswant, Security guard of Boys hostel 6. On this occasion, Dean Student Welfare Prof. Amit Chauhan participated in the program as the chief guest. After planting the saplings, he inspired the students to connect with nature and to make tree plantation a part of their lifestyle. He said that service to nature is service to humanity, and every student should take a pledge to plant at least one sapling and take care of it.
Prof. Namita Gupta, Dean Student Welfare (Female), also participated in the program and inspired the female students to play an active role while being alert towards the environment, and she gave a message to students to make continuous efforts towards increasing greenery. On this occasion, wardens of other boys and girls hostels, the residents, and staff, collectively contributed significantly to making the event successful. The students collectively planted various species of plants in the hostel premises, including shade-giving, medicinal, and fruit-bearing trees. On this occasion, all the students took a pledge for the regular care and protection of the plants so that they could establish a deep connection with nature. At the conclusion of this program, all those present reiterated the message of "Plant Trees, Save Life" and took a pledge to continue this initiative in the future.
