TREE PLANTATION DRIVE TO COMMEMORATE 75TH YEAR OF INDEPENDENCE – KVK KAPURTHALA

Ludhiana, August 8, 2023: Trees and forests play a very crucial role in maintaining an ecological balance on the planet. Therefore, we must protect tree & forests and stop deforestation and practice the 3R rule i.e. Reduce, reuse and recycle. So, to promote environmental conservation and to commemorate the 75th year of Indian Independence, KVK Kapurthala organized tree plantation drive at its campus. To make KVK landscaping beautiful and attractive, Dr Harinder Singh, Assoc. Director (T), along with his team planted 40 amaltas trees. The amaltas is not just captivating in its beauty but also is a panacea for many ills. Dalbergia sissoo (tahli), trees were planted along the boundary wall of KVK (as these trees grow long and provide shade) and mango trees were planted behind main building near fruit nutrition garden. To provide dense plantation around goatry unit Moringa, mulberry and drek trees were planted. Moringa leaves are an excellent source of vitamins and minerals including vitamin A, C, B6 and magnesium; while mulberry leaves contain vitamin C, zinc, calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorus and magnesium. Neem trees were also planted as they purify air and have medicinal value too. In total more than 200 plants were planted at KVK campus. All the KVK staff took part in this drive very enthusiastically.
