Jalandhar, July 29, 2025: A large-scale tree plantation drive is successfully going on under the aegis of the 2 Punjab NCC Battalion across various colleges and schools in the region. This green initiative under the campaign Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam witnessed enthusiastic participation from NCC cadets, faculty members, and students, reinforcing the commitment of the National Cadet Corps towards environmental sustainability and community engagement.

Over 1000 saplings are being planted in coordination with educational institutions including Lyallpur Khalsa College, Doaba College, DAVIET, CT Institution and four Kendriya Vidyalayas transforming campuses into greener and healthier spaces. The campaign emphasized the importance of afforestation, climate awareness, and the role of youth in ecological conservation. Colonel Vinod Joshi, speaking on the occasion, highlighted the significance of campaign Ek Ped Maa ke Naam in fostering environmental consciousness among young cadets. He said: Planting trees is not just an act of service—it is a responsibility we owe to our planet and future generations.

In the present scenario when the world is witnessing global warming and environment changes at alarming rates, such afforestation drives inculcate a sense of responsibility among citizens so they can be aware about the affects of deforestation.

2 PB NCC Battalion extends its gratitude to all partnering institutions and volunteers who contributed to making the drive a grand success. The Battalion remains committed to organizing more such impactful activities under the guidance and leadership of Col. Vinod Joshi.
