Ludhiana, August 20, 2025: As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental conservation and social responsibility, the NCC Unit of SDP College, Ludhiana, organized a large-scale Tree Plantation Drive on Wednesday in Village Noorwala.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 40 NCC cadets, guided by 3 Permanent Instructors (PIs), 1 Associate NCC Officer (ANO), and 2 civil staff members. This initiative aligns with NCC’s broader mission to encourage youth involvement in national environmental efforts, instilling awareness about climate action, ecological preservation, and the significance of tree plantation in combating global warming.
The local Sarpanch, Sukhjeet Singh, extended a warm welcome to the cadets and appreciated their dedication toward community development. With his support and that of the village panchayat, the plantation drive was conducted at multiple key locations in the village, including school grounds, roadside areas, and open public spaces. Saplings of native tree species planted with a focus on ecological balance and long-term sustainability. Villagers, schoolchildren, and local volunteers also took part, turning the event into a true example of community-driven environmental action.
The Associate NCC Officer of SDP College addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of youth participation in nation-building and environmental care. “Through such initiatives, our cadets not only learn discipline and leadership but also develop a deep sense of responsibility toward the environment and society,” the ANO stated. The drive concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to safeguard and maintain the newly planted trees. The event was a resounding success, reflecting the NCC’s motto “Unity and Discipline”, and leaving a lasting impact on both the cadets and the local community of Village Noorwala.
