Tree Plantation Drive at Emerging Area Building
The Department of Life Long Learning & Extension alongwith all the Departments of Emerging Area Building, Panjab University in collaboration with PU Horticulture Wing today organised a Tree Plantation Drive at Emerging Area Building.

Chandigarh July 23, 2025: The Department of Life Long Learning & Extension alongwith all the Departments of Emerging Area Building, Panjab University in collaboration with PU Horticulture Wing today organised a Tree Plantation Drive at Emerging Area Building.
The sprucing of the lawns and grounds around Emerging Area in Social Sciences Block was prepared yesterday for the plantation. Mowing of grass, weeds and wild growth was done. Flower beds were prepared, shrubs, plant like Hibiscus, Allamanda, Araucaria, Palm, Golden Bottlebrush and Ficus were planted. In addition to that, some herbs like Tulsi and Shrubs like Kaner and Chinese Rose were planted for beautification and ornamentation of the area. Besides this landscaping in three vacant spaces are done as it was required since long.
All the Chairpersons, faculty, staff members and students of the Emerging Area Building actively participated in this drive and planted the plants. On the occasion, Dr. P.S. Kang, Department of Life Long Learning & Extension and Dr. Gaurav Gaur, Centre for Social Work, Panjab University also addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of Trees for the healthy environment. All the Chairpersons advised the students to water the plants and take care of them.
