Training program on “Advanced Molecular Biology Techniques” (Bioscience for Human Health Mission)

Chandigarh, March 23, 2022: The third day of training program on “Advanced Molecular Biology Techniques” was presided over by the chief guest of the day Prof. R.K. Kohli, (Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Mohali). Prof. Kohli, enlightened the participants about the potential of science research in India. He synchronized the link of science growth from the Indus-valley civilization, post-independence till current era. He also emphasized on the research ethics and motivated participants to be self-reliant and develop their own path with focused approach. The talk was followed by brainstorming interactive session with the participants and faculty.
 
Prof. Jasbir Singh, Dept. of Biochemistry, Kurukshetra University, Haryana, spoke on the Polymerase chain reaction, one of the most important scientific advances in the field of molecular biology especially in the COVID 19 pandemic. He discussed about various types of PCR. Prof. Jasbir also elaborated on the concept of primer designing. He also talked about different applications of PCR techniques such as sequencing, genetic engineering, gene mutations and archeology.
 
 The day concluded with a hands-on training program on spectrophotometric and Nanodrop analysis of the genomic DNA, and PCR.
