Trainee IAS officers visit Nauni varsity

Dharamshala, December 28, 2017: As part of their winter study tour, 18 IAS trainee officers from the Lal Bahadur National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie today visited the Dr.YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni. All officers were from the 2017 batch. The study tour was a part of their Bharat Darshan programme.
Assistant Commissioner (AC to DC Solan) BR Sharma accompanied the group, which is being hosted by the District Administration Solan.The group met the senior officers of the university including Vice Chancellor Dr. HC Sharma, Registrar Rajesh Kumar and Director Research DrJN Sharma.
While interacting with the group, the Vice Chancellor urged the officers to address the social and ethical issues of the people as they were going to be the interface between the people and government. He also spoke on the agriculture sector of the country and the issues concerning it. Dr. Sharma asked the officers to work towards realizing the goal of the Indian Government in doubling farmers’ income by the year 2022.
DrJNS harma, gave a brief background about the university and explained about the academic, research and extension activities carried out by it.
The group also visited the farms of the Floriculture and Landscape Architecture department of the university to understand the research being carried out by the scientists in the field.
