Tiranga March Marks Patriotic Fervour at MDU

Rohtak, August 14, 2026: Patriotic fervour gripped MDU today as students, faculty members and employees took out a Tiranga March under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, raising slogans of 'Vijayi Vishwa Tiranga Pyara, Jhanda Uncha rahe hamara' and 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'.

The March was flagged off by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia, who also took part in the march along with Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal and others university functionaries. Participants carried the national flag and raised patriotic slogans. They also took a pledge to uphold the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the nation and work in the national interest.

 VC Prof. Milap Punia said that the Tiranga symbolises our national identity, unity and pride. He said the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign inspires the younger generation to understand its responsibilities towards the nation. Referring to Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, he urged youth to draw lessons from the painful history of Partition and work towards social harmony, brotherhood and national unity.

Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal said such occasions connect the younger generation with the country’s history and freedom struggle. He added that respect for the national flag should be reflected not only on special occasions but also in the conduct and responsibilities of citizens.

The march was joined by Dean, Mathematical and Computational Sciences Prof. Naseeb Singh, Director Public Relations Sunit Mukherjee, Prof. Vimal, Prof. Surender Yadav, Dr. Hari Mohan, Director Youth Welfare Dr. Pratap Rathi, PRO Pankaj Nain, MDUTA president Dr. Pradeep Kumar, besides faculty members, officers, employees, research scholars and students.

Later, a speech competition on 'Partition Horrors: The Pain of History, Lessons for the Present and Resolve for the Future' was organised at the Student Activity Centre. Students from UTD and affiliated colleges spoke about the human suffering and displacement caused by Partition and its lessons for the present generation.

Mandeep of the Department of Economics won the first prize, while Anshika and Disha of the Department of Law secured the second and third positions, respectively. Himanshi of the Department of Law received the consolation prize.

The competition was judged by Prof. Harish Kumar, Dr. Bindu Ahlawat and PRO Pankaj Nain. Director PR Sunit Mukherjee and Dr. Pratap Rathi coordinated the programme.
