Three-Week Internship Programme for PU Police Administration Students Begins with Chandigarh Police
The three-week internship programme for students of the Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, has commenced at the Recruit Training Centre (RTC), Chandigarh Police.
Chandigarh, July 1, 2026: The three-week internship programme for students of the Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, has commenced at the Recruit Training Centre (RTC), Chandigarh Police.
The inaugural session was addressed by Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Chairperson, Centre for Police Administration, PU, and Sh. Amrao Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Recruit Training Centre (RTC), Chandigarh Police.
Addressing the students, police officers, instructors and staff, Dr. Kuldeep Singh highlighted the objectives, curriculum and multidisciplinary nature of the Police Administration programme. He highlighted the various dimensions of police administration and discussed the academic framework of the course with Chandigarh Police officials. He said the internship has been designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical policing by providing students with first-hand exposure to the functioning of the police organisation.
Encouraging the students to make the most of the opportunity, Dr. Kuldeep Singh urged them to gain practical insights into police station administration, investigation, training, public service delivery and police management. He noted that the internship would strengthen their professional understanding by integrating theoretical knowledge with field experience.
In his address, Sh. Amrao Singh, DSP, Recruit Training Centre (RTC), Chandigarh Police, welcomed the participants and emphasized the significance of practical training and internships in developing a comprehensive understanding of policing. He encouraged the students to actively participate in every aspect of the programme and learn from the experience and expertise of police officers and trainers.
The technical sessions were conducted by Inspector Punam Dilawari and the RTC training staff, who introduced the students to the history, organisation and functioning of the Recruit Training Centre.
They also delivered an orientation on the three new criminal laws, familiarising the participants with recent legal reforms and their implementation in contemporary policing.
As part of the programme, the students visited various units of the Police Lines and the Recruit Training Centre to gain practical exposure to the operational, administrative and training facilities of Chandigarh Police.
Dr. Shaveta Begra, Dr. Satnam Singh, Dr. Daljit Kaur, Inspector Kuldeep Singh and Inspector Sewa Singh have been deputed to coordinate, supervise and mentor the students throughout the three-week internship programme.
