Patiala, May 8, 2025: In line with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s zero-tolerance policy against negligence and irregularities, the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) has taken a significant step to uphold transparency and accountability by suspending three of its employees with immediate effect for their alleged involvement in official misconduct and negligence.
Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, while confirming the action, stated that the preliminary inquiry has revealed that the employees in question had issued tubewell connections in violation of established norms and procedures. The employees suspended include Rohit Sharma, Junior Engineer at Distribution Sub Division, PSPCL Bhinder Kalan; Gurinderjit Singh, Assistant Lineman at Distribution Sub Division, PSPCL Dharamkot; and Kesav Kumar, Revenue Assistant at the same subdivision.
The minister emphasised that such lapses would not be tolerated under any circumstances. “No irregularities or negligence will be accepted within the functioning of PSPCL. Any employee found guilty of misconduct or violating rules will face strict action,” he asserted.
He further added that a detailed inquiry is currently underway to ascertain the full extent of the irregularities and identify any other officials who may have been involved. The government, he said, is committed to ensuring that public services remain transparent and that the interests of consumers are safeguarded.
Power Minister hoped that the move will send a strong message across the power corporation that negligence and malpractice will invite immediate consequences, as the state government aims to reinforce professionalism and accountability within its ranks.
