Three Bihar MLAs' houses targeted by thieves in last 15 days

Patna, Sep 14 (IANS) Houses of legislators in Bihar are no more secure these days, with thieves targeting three MLAs, including one of the ruling JD-U, in different districts in the last 15 days.

The latest case was in Aurangabad district where thieves took away the motorcycle of the police guard of Congress lawmaker Anand Shankar Singh on Monday.

In a complaint to Aurangabad police, the police guard said he was residing in police lines, and posted as bodyguard of Singh. "I went from my house to the bungalow of MLA and parked my vehicle there. As he was having a scheduled visit in his constituency, I went with him. When I returned, my bike was missing from the place."

On September 1, thieves had struck at the house of JD-U lawmaker Shalini Mishra in Shanti Nagar area in Motihari of East Champaran district.

In a complaint in the city police station, her relative and house caretaker, Amit Kumar Choubey, said that the thieves had taken away Rs 27,000 cash, jewellery worth 1 lakh, some important documents, and domestic items from the house.

"It could be a well-planned conspiracy as many important documents are missing from the house," Mishra said.

On September 12, thieves struck the house of RJD's Vibha Devi in Nawada and took away Rs 5 lakh. The incident came to light after the MLA found money was missing from the cupboard. Her representative has given a written complaint in Mofussil police station.
